May is recognized as Mental Health Awareness Month. This month aims to promote the importance of children's mental health in early development and highlight resources for youth, families, and communities. Mental health is not simply the absence of a mental disorder. Mental health affects how children think, feel, and act. A mentally healthy childhood means meeting emotional milestones, building social skills, coping with challenges, and thriving at home, in school, and in their community.
