Our students that are a part of the Young Business Leaders (YBL) program were able to display their presnetation skills in a WMS Shark Tank style presentation to adults at the Junior Achievment Center. Under the leadership of their computer teacher Mrs. Baer-Carpenter our students were the star attraction. We are Warrior Strong. 🖤💛💪🏾 Great job Warriors.

Students in our Graphic Arts track of the WMS Program for the Arts, are currently diving into Adobe Illustrator software in our iMac design lab and are currently focusing on the “shape builder” and “layer” functions.
Shown here, students are designing a digital “Toucan” as an introduction to these tools.

As we near the end of term 1, here are some important attendance reminders of responsibilities for students and parents:

6th Graders in Mrs. Keeler's science classes modeled plate tectonics with cool whip and graham crackers to learn how rift valleys, volcanos, mountains, and earthquakes form.

The WMS Program for the Arts proudly presented “Thriller” as a flash mob at the Wicomico Middle Fall Festival last evening, Wednesday, October 15, 2025, under the direction of Mrs. Lillian Hoffman and Ms. Rheya Ford.

Calendar Reminder: Schools are closed this Friday, Oct. 17 for the Maryland State Education Association Convention. The Central Office and school offices will be open.

Wicomico Middle is so proud of these scholars! They had awesome attendance for the month of September and won an Arby's gift card! The October individual attendance incentive is underway. 🖤💛

Congratulations to the homerooms that won the attendance incentive for the month of September! These homerooms maintained the Maryland State Standard of 94% or above for the average daily attendance! Keep up the awesome work Wi-Middle Scholars! 🖤💛

6th Young Business Leaders in Mrs. Carpenter’s class pitched business ideas for the first time during a “WMS Fishbowl.” A spin off of the traditional “Shark Tank” concept, students pitched to not only their classmates, but special guests from administration, staff, and central office.
The students were tasked with solving a local, environmental, or world-wide problem using a recycled product as a solution to sell to the general public. The best pitch wins a prize.

Note for Wednesday, Oct. 1: Term 1 mid-term progress reports will come out Oct. 1 for students in grades 1-12. Be sure to review the progress report with the student to celebrate successes and set goals at the midpoint of the marking term.

Students in our WMS Program for the Arts, Theatre and Dance track, are performing “songologues”. Student's took a song of their choosing and instead of singing did a dramatic reading. Those who wanted to sing could choose to do so also. The focus is to build one’s confidence as a solo performer, and practice the intricacies of audience etiquette.

Students in the Young Business Leaders Signature School Program are currently creating a Business Model Canvas (BMC) of all the key components needed to create a business in our Innoventure Lab with Mrs. Carpenter.
Students have started creating this Business Model by identifying the Problem, the Customer, and the Solution. Next, they outline the other factors entrepreneurs consider when building a business: Unique Value Proposition of their solution, costs, metrics, revenue, selling channels, and customer relationships.

Students in our Graphic Arts track of the WMS Program for the Arts, have been hard at work this week learning about the designing of character sketches. Students are working to draft designs on paper that will then provide a blueprint for them when they start learning the intricacies of the Adobe Design Suite on our iMacs.

Our Theatre and Dance Track of the Wicomico Middle Program for the Arts competed in a theater scavenger hunt yesterday where they worked in teams to decipher hints pertaining to theatrical vocabulary and topics, while navigating the crucial pieces that create a performance space. We are blessed to have a theatre space to support our program.
The Wicomico Middle Program for the Arts is an engaging and dynamic initiative designed to nurture creativity and self-expression among students. For the 2025-2026 school year, we are excited to offer two tracks within the program for Wicomico Middle enrolled students: Theatre and Dance, and Graphic Arts.
The program encourages young artists to explore their talents while developing essential skills like teamwork, critical thinking, and confidence. Through hands-on workshops, collaborative projects, and performances, students are inspired to create and innovate, all while building a supportive community that celebrates diverse artistic voices. Whether they’re designing an interactive media piece, composing original music, or performing on stage, students are empowered to discover and share their unique artistic identities.
