We are thankful to Educational Systems FCU and its employees for their generous donation of hats, gloves, socks and other winter items through the company's Warming Hearts and Hands initiative. The Division of Student & Family Services team of Wicomico County Public Schools (represented here by pupil personnel workers Knita Cartwright and Jacqualynn Deal) will make sure these donations are given to students and family members who need them. Wicomico County Public Schools appreciates the generosity and compassion of our community. If your business or organization would like to support Wicomico students and families in some way, please contact us at comments@mywcps.org.

It was a special day yesterday for LEO Club students from JM Bennett and Parkside High Schools, and the Salisbury Lions Club. They were humbled and honored to deliver gifts, food, dignity, and hope to some of the most undeserved families in our community. Their route had 11 of the 140 families that were served by multiple volunteer groups helping Santa's Angels. Life Lessons - Students learned how to give of their time, service, and heart, with humility, and expect nothing in return. Count your blessings, folks. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays.

Recently, a dedicated team of LEO Club students from JM Bennett and Parkside High Schools, along with the Salisbury Lions, gathered to prepare 150 food boxes for Santa's Angels. In two hours, the team created something special for local families in need. One LEO said, "this is truly amazing." It was a great day to be a Lion, LEO, and to serve. The 150 boxes were delivered along with gifts and clothes yesterday to designated families throughout Wicomico County by several teams of volunteers serving as Santa's Angels. Thank you to JMB and Parkside LEO Club members for spreading joy to our community!

Today, the Parkside Holiday Wrestling Tournament officially was renamed as the Pat Briscoe Memorial Holiday Tournament in honor of Pat Briscoe, the man who started the Parkside wrestling program. He was a teacher at Parkside High School, but he was more than that. He was a father, mentor, coach, and teacher. He was a man who was dedicated to his job and loved by his family. Today, the family of Pat Briscoe was present for the official renaming and received a plaque in his honor. We're sure that Pat is smiling down seeing the wrestling mats and the stands full of people who love wrestling.
