Do you love chess and want to play against fellow RAMFAM? Or, do you want to just learn how to play chess? Either way, we have a club for you!

Yesterday, students in Mrs. Zanette/Mrs. Parker/Mr. Weiss' classes got to Zoom with John Lee Cronin, owner and founder of John's Crazy Socks. John and his father explained how John came up with this idea and then how he used his entrepreneurial skills to create this amazing business! It was inspiring to hear John's story, and we can't wait to see what ideas these classes come up with! See below for more information about John's Crazy Socks and then a link to their site if you want to buy their socks.
John's Crazy Socks is a father-son social enterprise inspired by John Lee Cronin, a young man with Down syndrome, and his love of colorful and fun socks, or what he calls his "crazy socks." We're on a mission to spread happiness.
Every day, we show what's possible when you give a person with a differing ability a chance. Over half our employees have a differing ability.

Today, Parkside Career Counseling hosted an exciting First Responders & Armed Forces Career Day, giving students a hands-on experience to explore these vital professions. Students had the chance to learn about the critical roles that first responders and armed forces play in protecting our communities, while also networking with professionals and gaining valuable career advice.
A highlight of the event was a special presentation from the Maryland Army National Guard, featuring a live demonstration with a UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter landing on campus. This unique opportunity allowed students to interact with aviation experts and get a close-up look at military aviation.
We’d like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all of our First Responders and service members for their dedication to our community, and to the following representatives for making today’s event a success:
• Tidal Health
• Salisbury Fire Department
• Fruitland Police Department
• U.S. Marines
• U.S. Navy
• Maryland Army National Guard
Thank you to everyone who participated and helped make this event unforgettable!
Thank you, Career Coach Reed, for setting this all up for the RAMFAM!

Two of our Parkside Marching RAMS, Gabi Saintphard and Kaylin Sterling, got to practice and then perform with the Mighty Sound of Maryland (University of Maryland Marching Band) on Saturday during the UMD football game versus Rutgers. They practiced with the band, got to be in the parade to the stadium, and then had pregame, halftime, and post-game performances. Thank you to the Mighty Sound of Maryland for giving high school students this amazing opportunity and shoutout to Gabi and Kaylin for taking advantage of this and doing an amazing job!

Parkside CTE Horticulture students create botanical renderings for plant identification studies. Thank you, Erin Burke, for these amazing photos. We love how Mr. Kelley incorporates art into his lessons.

The 2024-25 season is underway and we are a little over 1 month away from our annual holiday tournament.
I wanted to announce that this year we are officially and permanently re-naming the tournament “The Pat Briscoe Memorial Holiday Wrestling Tournament” in honor of the founding father of Parkside Wrestling and National Wrestling Hall of Fame member Pat Briscoe who passed away this past summer. Coach Briscoe started this tournament back in 1968 when he was the head coach at James M. Bennett HS. He brought the tournament to Parkside when the school opened (and he became the head coach) in 1975. This tournament has certainly withstood the test of time as this year will be the 55th season the tournament will be held.
Interesting fact: the only season the tournament was not held was in 2021 when the wrestling season was cancelled state-wide due to COVID.
Attached is a 1968 article from The Daily Times about the very first tournament (thank you to Matt Melvin for posting this on his Facebook page BloodxTime A History of Wrestling on the Eastern Shore).
As you can see this tournament has grown over the years, starting with 4 teams in its inception to 14 teams this year.
We are truly honored to be able to recognize Coach Briscoe and all that he meant not only to Parkside Wrestling but also what he meant to the wrestling community state-wide.
More details will be forthcoming in the next few weeks about the dedication and other tournament specifics.

2024 Parkside Rams Soccer team...will always be champions in our hearts and will go down as one of the greatest soccer teams in Parkside High history. They had an undefeated season during the regular season and only lost 1-0 in the state championship game to one of the best teams in the state, regardless of classification. Coach Kollin Boog and his staff led this team to the state finals game which has only occurred 4 times in the 49 years of Parkside. This team's legacy will last forever and we won't forget about this team anytime soon. Thank you to our seniors who played at their best when it mattered most. You will not be forgotten and we can't wait to celebrate your graduation in May 2025. 2024 Parkside Boys Soccer team, hold those heads high...you are champions and we love you all! 💚🤍🐏⚽️🐏🤍💚
